2014 Happenings

5 Jan. '14 - Last night, Darcie had her Kirkwood class here for a fieldtrip.  They had a lot of interesting experiences.  During an EVP session in Room 8 they heard giggling out in the hallway that sounded like children.  In another room they had asked a question and several of the people heard an audible "No" that sounded like a man's voice.  Several people commented that they had been brushed by a cat, but all our cats were closed in our private quarters. In Room 7, the people staying in there had put out several motion detectors and when we are all downstairs in the dining room, the motion detectors went off.  First this one then that one and back and forth.  He was watching them from the video cameras on his laptop.  During one EVP session they asked if the spirits could walk across the laser grid they had set up and a man's voice says "LLLLLAAAASSSSEEEERRR".   It was really low and slow but we could tell what he was saying.   Then, this morning, Darcie, Stephanie, Chuck and I investigated a house for sale in another town.  It is for sale and the realtor said that when she was in there cleaning, the doors kept opening and closing and she wanted our opinion as to whether it is inhabited or not.  So we went and did some EVP sessions and I had my pendulum along.  When we were in the basement, we came across an elemental hiding in a corner, and then we heard footsteps and a child's voice on the main floor in the family room above us.  But we were all downstairs.  So we went upstairs to the family room and came across a little boy, about 7 years old, who had been killed by an accident with a horse.  He said he did not live in the house, his father was a "domestic" in the 1800s.  He was very confused and we managed to convince him that he needed to go to his parents in the light.  (Children are so used to having adults tell them what to do that when they die suddenly they don't know what to do.)  Then, upstairs in the master bedroom, there was alot of anger vibrations.  We came across a woman who said "He brought me here" and "He used his fists on me".  She could see the light, but did not feel worthy of going to it.  (Maybe a prostitute.)  We were able to convince her that it was okay to go, there is only love and forgiveness there.  After she went the air in the room lightened considerably.  The anger feeling is residual, probably from the man who did the beating.  The elemental in the basement, we decided to leave alone.  It won't hurt anybody.

6 Jan. '14 -  This morning, Chuck had left for work at 4am and I went back to sleep.  Shortly before 7am, just before the alarm rang, I heard my name, very loudly, in my right ear.  "JOY LYNN".   I immediately was wide awake, because it was my mother's voice!  Wow.  My mom is in California.

17 Jan. '14 - I have been babysitting my grandchildren for a week and just returned to the Inn last night.  I asked Chuck if he had experienced anything while I was gone and he said that it was pretty quiet except for one morning when he heard voices.  They were faint and far away, and he could not tell where they were coming from.  Nobody was outside.  Nobody was in the Inn except for Jinni and him.  The TV was not on.  No radio was on.  Jinni was not up yet.  He said it sounded like a TV was on somewhere, but he could not find the source of it.  Several times guests have made the same comment that it sounded like a TV was on somewhere, but could not account for it.    While I was at my daughter's house, I noticed how quiet it was.  When I'm here at the Inn, I hear doorbells that aren't being rung.  Phone rings in one ear when the phone is either not in the room or is on the other side of the room.  Voices talking and footsteps and my name called when nobody else is here.  Sometimes I think I am going crazy and it is all in my head.  But if that was true, don't you think I would hear them anywhere I was?  But for eight days, there was none of that.  Now that I've been back here at the Inn for one day, I have heard the dinger bell dinging when nobody is ringing it.  I think Jinni hears the phone ring when it does not ring also, because several times yesterday she came down from her room to ask who was on the phone.  The phone had not rung and she insisted that it did.  Also, you cannot hear the phone downstairs from her room on the third floor.

23 Jan. '14 - The two couples who stayed last night had some interesting experiences.  During an investigation in the parlor, one woman had her hair touched.  One of the men said it felt like a very cold breeze flew over his head in one direction and then did it again in the other direction.  There is no fan or air conditioner in that room and no windows were open.  During the night, in Room 5, the wife felt a cat walk over her legs from one side of the bed to the other and then it walked back again and off the bed.  They also heard a woman talking in the room with the twin beds.  They said she sounded tinny and old fashioned like something being played on an old record player or something like that.  (Remember, they are not in our dimension and it does sound different than you or me talking.)

1 Feb. '14 - Last Tuesday morning, Chuck had already left for work, (he leaves at 4am), and I was not asleep yet, and I heard loud footsteps in the foyer hallway.  It sounded like somebody stomping his boots.  Thinking it was Jinni getting ready for school, I looked at the clock and it said 4:43am.  Definitely not Jinni, but I looked anyway, just to make sure.  Nope, no Jinni.  I went back to bed and was awakened by more heavy foot steps in the hallway.  The clock said 5:45am.  Again it was stomping boots.  When I did hear Jinni at 6:30am, her steps were alot lighter than what I had heard before.  This morning, about 8:30am, I was laying in bed thinking about my schedule for the day and I heard Knock, knock, knock, knock...... Knock, knock, knock, knock.  It sounded like somebody with mittens was knocking on the front door window.  Thinking maybe a Fed EX delivery person was out there, I looked, but nobody was there and there were no footprints in the new snow.  Nobody was around, no cars parked anywhere.  I guess somebody was just telling me to get up and get busy!

2 Feb. '14 - The lady who stayed in Room 5 last night said she was awakened at 3:38am by the sound of a piano being played.  She said it seemed to be coming from the parlor which was directly beneath her.  With Chuck and me being in Room 1, which is about 6 feet from the Parlor, I know nobody was in there playing it. She said the music went for several minutes before it stopped.

8 Feb. '14 - I haven't heard any phantom doorbells or phone rings lately.  But then, last night at 12:30am on the dot, I heard one BING!.   It was the first note in their usual Bing Bong sound, but it was just the Bing.  I said "You guys really must be low on energy if all you can give me is one note".  Chris Moon will be here this weekend, so maybe that will give them some more energy.

15 Feb. '14 - We had a fantastic weekend with Chris and Paulette.  Not much in the way of activity, but we did talk to President Lincoln on the Telephone to the Dead and he said he was happy to attend.  The ice on the river broke up last night and we did not know it.  But around 3:30am I heard alot of thumping and banging going on in the foyer hallway outside of Room 1.  At first I thought it was Jinni getting ready for school, but when I saw the time I knew it was not Jinni.  When I got up at 7am, I noticed the river was running very high and the ice was all jammed up.  I could see by the high water mark that it had been bank full at one point and then went down again.  I checked the NOAA river warnings web site and saw that the high water time had been about 3:30am.  That was when all the thumping noise was going on!  I wonder if somebody was trying to get our attention about the river!

11 March '14 - The lady who stayed in Room 5 last night said a cat had been closed in her room overnight.  She could hear it shuffling around and felt it jumping on and off the bed several times.  But when she looked for it to let it out, she could not find anything.  I know for a fact that all our cats were downstairs last night.  I did not know whether to tell her about Josephine or not because when she checked in she said she did not want anything to do with the ghosts.  The lady in Room 6 said the same thing.  But about 4:30am, I heard footsteps in her room that went from the big bed area to the bathroom area.  No water was run and the footsteps did not return to the bed.  She said she had slept very soundly and did not get up at all until 8am.  I don't think I'll tell her about the footsteps.

15 March '14 - Cindi and her kids have been visiting for their Spring Vacation and staying in Room 7.  During the night, Cindi used our IR camera and filmed in some of the rooms.  She got lots of big bright orbs flying around her sleeping children.  On Thursday night, her daughter Aurora was not asleep yet and was waiting for Cindi to return to the room.  She heard footsteps come up the stairs and room doors were opening and closing.  Thinking it was her Mom, she did not think anything of it.  Then she heard her Mom's footsteps come up the stairs and she entered the room.  Aurora asked if she was doing the other rooms too and Cindi said she only did the Parlor downstairs.  Cindi did not open any of the other room doors.

17 March '14 - Darcie McGrath led a Ghost Hunt class here this weekend.  She said they had another audible phenomenon during an EVP session.  Several of the people heard a cat's mew in the dining room.  This would not be odd since we had our cats confined to the Keeping Room next door, but she said the noise came from the direction of the parlor and there were no cats over there.  In Room 7, several people mentioned feeling like their hand or leg was vibrating.  One man said his foot had a stinging sensation.  The lady who slept in the big bed in that room said that when she got into bed, her chest started tingling, but then it went away.  During an EVP session in Room 3, around 12:30am, Darcie said they heard noise coming from Room 2 where Chuck and Jinni and I were sleeping.  She said there was alot of walking around noise and even thought one of us had gone into the bathroom.  But we had all gone to sleep by 10pm and did not get up until 6:30am.    Okay, here is something in the weird category.... On Saturday, I had shown the Caboose Cottage to some people who wanted to see it.  Everything out there was as it should be.  I locked the door when we left.    When the people who were renting the caboose arrived, I took them out there to show them where things are.  In the bedroom, the TV was on.  It was playing a DVD of Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest.   Now, I don't think it is in the Para-normal category, but it is definitely in the NOT-NORMAL category!

19 March '14 - The family who stayed in Rooms 5 and 8 last night usually have alot of activity when they visit.  Twice before the standing lamp would go on and off by itself.  They even got it on video.  But this time there was no such activity, it was very quiet compared to previous visits.  You just never know.  However, they did hear what sounded like children's footsteps in the hallway and that was something new to them, so they were excited about that.  They had brought a "static electricity ball" and wanted to do some experiments with that to see if the spirit energy could affect the static energy.  They did not see anything visually, but on their audio recording of the session, when they asked who was playing with the ball, they got a very clear answer of "Johnny".  Johnny is about 11 years old and he likes to play with things that make noise, like tapping on the keyboard in our bedroom and rattling plastic bags.

30 March '14 - Dr. Kerris Dillon was here this past weekend teaching a Psychic Development class about Forensic Psychic visions.  It was very interesting.  Just before she arrived on Friday night, the spirits here got all excited and were saying "The Dr. is coming!  The Dr. is coming!  Darcie? No, THE DOCTOR!"  Going on and on like that.  About 10 minutes later, Kerris arrived and went into the Caboose Cottage where she was staying overnight.  And suddenly, all the chatter stopped and all the energy left the building.  I guess they all went over to say hi to her.  When I told Kerris about this she said they did indeed visit her over there and were very chatty.  During her class on Saturday, one man saw a very tall, big man standing in the Parlor.  From his description it sounds like Bart had joined the group.  During the night, Josephine visited Rooms 5 and 4 by jumping on the beds and snuggling with the guests.  During an EVP session in Room 7, the group had some great interaction with the flashlights.  Right after that, two ladies went outside to smoke and they saw the headlights of one of the parked cars were flashing on and off.  The owner of the car was informed about it and by the time she got her keys and opened the car door, the flashing stopped.  She said the car is an older model and does not have a remote keychain button and there is no way somebody could have been doing that remotely.  She said it has never done it before and she will watch to see if it does it again.  But as for now there is no explanation for it.  I guess they decided it was just like working a flashlight!

31 March '14 - The couple who stayed in Room 5 last night said they would be doing some EVPs and investigating in the unused bedrooms during the night.  So when I heard footsteps up in Room 6 about 11pm, I assumed it was them.  The bedroom door opened, there were heavy footsteps that went into the room and around the corner to the big bed, even stepped on the squeaky board in passing.  They paused for a few seconds and then went back out the door and the door closed.  I thought that was a very short EVP session.  In the morning I asked about the very short EVP session and they said they fell asleep about 10pm and never did get up until breakfast time.

3 April '14 - Last night we went out to dinner and when we returned, both Chuck and I heard men talking inside the house.  It seemed to come from the dining room, so our first impression was that the TV had been left on.  But when we checked the dining room, the TV was not on and nobody was in the house.  We check outside the house to see if anybody was around and there were no cars in town or anybody about.  I'm glad Chuck heard the voices too because sometimes I think I am going crazy.... hearing voices.

13 April '14 - Kristin and Dan and Josiah were here for the weekend.  They stayed in Room 6.  Chuck and I are still in Room 1.  There were no guests in the main house.  About 6am, I heard a door on the second floor open and close, I assumed it was Room 6 because it was definitely close enough.  Then there were footsteps coming down the stairs, the dining room door opened and closed.  I thought Dan was up with Josiah and getting breakfast.  I knew it was not Jinni's footsteps, and I heard her come downstairs at 6:45.  So I got up and dressed and went into the dining room to get breakfast ready.  Jinni was in there eating but nobody else was there.  Later, when Kristin and family came down for breakfast, I asked if they'd already fed Josiah.  They said no.  I asked if they had been down around 6am, they said no.  They had just woke up and this was the first time they had been downstairs.  I told them about the door and the footsteps and they said it was not them.  Wow, and that was loud too!

4 May '14 - Our guests who stayed in Room 7 last night have been here many times.  This time they brought their 2 year old grandson along for the fun.  As soon as the little boy entered Room 7, he pointed and gleefully yelled "Doggy"!  But when he ran forward to pet the doggy, he stopped and looked around.... no doggy.  I wonder if he saw Purdy, our Sheltie who we had to put to sleep several years ago.  She has been seen several times since then.

6 May '14 - Our guests this past Saturday had an eventful night.  It started right away with the windows slamming shut in Room 6.  Those windows had been open for two days, but when D entered the room, they slammed shut.  I know sometimes if the wind hits them just right, they will be jarred enough to close, but the wind was not blowing at that time.  Later, in the Parlor, the man who was staying in Room 5 said something cold touched his finger, like a cat nose or a small child's finger.  During an EVP session in the Parlor, the guests were talking about how quiet it was and where did everybody go.  A woman answers "We're right heeerrre", in a sing-song voice.  During the night, the woman in Room 7 said she heard some shuffling noises over by the twin bed but she did not investigate.  But the big thing happened at breakfast on Sunday morning.  I was carrying the breakfast casserole from the kitchen to the dining room and the man from Room 5 said "Look, a cat."  His wife looked out the bay window and I looked also, and Butterscotch was walking past, so I just assumed that was the cat he was talking about.  Later, he asked the name of the cat and I said the little white and orange Manx with out a tail, was named Butterscotch.  He said "No, the big orange one that went into the Parlor."  He said that when I brought the casserole from the kitchen, a large furry orange cat ran out from between my feet and ran into the parlor.  I told him we used to have a cat by that description, Tommy, but he died two years ago!!

8 June '14 - Darcie had one of her amazing Public Ghost Hunt events here last night.  There was alot of personal activity.  In Rooms 1 and 7, the doors kept locking themselves.  The people in the rooms said they had not locked it, but when they went to either enter or exit the room the door would be locked.  In Room 7, a woman was sitting in the rocking chair and it felt like somebody was helping her rock by pushing on the back of the chair.  She actually looked behind her at one point to make sure her husband was not back there doing it, but nobody was behind her.  In Darcie's room, she saw a small shadow pass across the wall, she said it was child size.  And then right after that she felt two small pokes in her side, like a child was trying to get her attention.  Later, in the dining room, Darcie felt somebody playing with her hair, she looked behind her but nobody was there.  In Room 6, there was alot of tapping sounds on the walls and ceiling.  We told them that was probably Harold, he likes to give the people in that room a message tapped out in Morse code.  They were thrilled, but wondered what the message was.  The man in Room 1 said that Darcie, up in Room 6, had gotten up hours before breakfast and had been walking back and forth in the bedroom up there.  He wondered why she was late for breakfast since she'd been up for hours.  Just then, Darcie arrived to breakfast saying she'd just woke up.  We told her about hearing footsteps up there and she said she did hear something going on over by the twin beds but was too tired to investigate.

28 June '14 -  This afternoon, I was in the dining room, waiting for guests to arrive.  Jinni headed up to her room and was in the foyer, headed up the stairs.  I heard a woman in the foyer say, "Please tell your mother there are guests waiting out here."  But, instead of informing me, Jinni just kept on up the stairs.  I thought that was strange because Jinni is very good about letting me know.  I went out to the foyer and there was nobody there.  The doors were locked, no cars anywhere.  I asked Jinni if anybody had talked to her and she just sighed and shook her head no.  She said "It was just, ..... You know."  And she sighed again.

3 July '14 - Chuck and I were on vacation for a while and Cindi and her family were here during that time.  Some of the things that happened were that a couple was staying in Room 6 and they did some EVPs.  Almost all their questions were answered with a "No".  I'm not sure what the questions were, though.  One night, Cindi was in the dining room and she heard footsteps running in the hallway above her head.  Her children were not upstairs and it was way too fast and light to be Jinni.  Cindi and her family were staying in Room 3 and she said that almost every night she could hear children running and playing in the back hallway, but her husband did not hear any of it.

6 August '14 - We have been a bit busy lately and I have been amiss in keeping up with this journal.  On July 18 Chuck had an accident that almost cost him his life.  He was making the bed in our bedroom when he had a coughing fit and his heart stopped momentarily.  He fainted and his face hit the wall, causing his head to snap back and broke his neck at c1 and c2.  He was unconscious for several minutes, then he came to and climbed up on the bed and called me to bring him an icepack.  He thought he had whiplash.  When his arms and legs began to go numb, I took him to the hospital ER and they did a CT scan and found he'd broken his neck.  He was helicoptered to Univ. of Iowa hospital at Iowa City and had surgery to fuse his neck bones.  He was in the hospital a week.  This past weekend we had Christopher Moon here with his Telephone to the Dead and we talked to Harold about the accident.  Harold said Chuck had been out for eleven minutes.  His heart had stopped for a few minutes and then started up again.  They knew the accident was going to happen and were powerless to stop it.  They watched it happen and then gently lowered him to the floor and stayed with him until he came to.  Seven of them went with Chuck on the helicopter.  Harold said "The flying contraption was fun, but don't look down!"  (This was according to Darcie who said Harold came and told her about the accident.)  When I came home to pack an overnight bag before driving up to Iowa City, I heard somebody saying over and over "Poor Chuck, poor Chuck"  "What happened? I didn't see it."  "Poor Chuck, poor Chuck."   Later we found out it was Amanda and some of the children.   Amazingly, Chuck is still alive and walking and talking.  A miracle in itself.  The day after Chuck's surgery to fuse c1 - c4 to his skull, I also had neck surgery to fuse c 5 - c7 together due to rupture discs in my lower neck.  The nurses said they had never had a husband and wife have the same surgery at the same time in the same hospital!  Now Chuck and I have matching "necklaces", ridged neck braces.  I have to wear mine for 6 weeks and he has to wear his for 6 months!  But we are still open for business, just a little slower for now.  To read the transcripts of the Aug 2 and 3 GHU Results, click here.

While we were at the hospital, my parents were here running the Inn.  Some things that happened were:  People in Room 7 heard the children playing in the hallway.  A woman in Room 5 had her hair played with and when she asked them to stop, she received a rather sharp slap which frightened her quite a bit.  We asked Harold about that on the TttD box, and Bart admitted to giving her a "touch touch", but he was sorry it had frightened her so.  Josephine the cat visited a couple who stayed in Room 7.  People in Room 6 heard tapping on the wall in sets of three.  My daughter, Cindi and her kids are staying in Room 3.  She says that almost every night she hears the children playing in the back hallway.

30 Aug. '14 - It has been very quiet lately, I guess they are giving us a rest.  Even our grandchildren commented on how they did not see or hear any spirits during the month they were here.  But last night, the man staying in Room 5 heard a loud party going on in the parlor at 10:50pm.  He said he could hear atleast 5 or 6 people talking and laughing.  His wife did not hear anything.  She was reading the history pages from the notebook out loud, but he could hear the party louder than he could hear his wife.  He looked outside and did not see any cars other than his own, the other guests not being back yet from the Old Threshers Reunion event in Mt. Pleasant.  Then he thought maybe the TV in the Dining Room was on, but knew it had to be quite loud to be heard upstairs.  He left the room and went downstairs to see what was going on, but the TV was not on and all the rooms were dark and quiet.  He went back up to Room 5 and he could definitely hear the party.  About 20 minutes later, the other guests arrived and went to their rooms.  After that commotion, he did not hear the party any more.  His wife was the one who wanted to stay here and have an experience and he had indulged her, but he was the one who ended up having the experience.

2 Sept. '14 - There was a group of 6 friends who stayed the weekend while attending the Old Threshers event in Mount Pleasant.  Four of the people had experiences such as having their hair played with and hearing footsteps in their rooms.  One of the group wanted something to happen but did not have anything and she was very disappointed.  I guess the other people had better energy.  You just never know who the spirits will like and who they won't.

14 Sept. '14 - The couple who stayed in Room 1 last night reported that they heard what sounded like a marble being dropped on a hard wood floor above their heads.  The marble hit the floor and rolled a few feet, then it happened again.  Then they heard footsteps walking around up in Room 6.  They just thought some other guests were up there and did not think anything of it.  Until I told them there had not been any guests in Room 6 last night.

30 Sept. '14 - Chuck and I were in the dining room this afternoon, discussing his accident.  He made a comment on how he was "on the other side" for a few seconds but then his heart started up again.  I said they threw him back because he was too small.  Just then he felt very cold and broke out in goosebumps all over.  At the same time, I heard a man say "Ha!  That's a good one!".

4 Oct. '14 - The two couples who stayed in Rooms 7 and 8 last night had asked for some activity in their rooms and they were so excited in the morning.  The man in Room 8 said he felt a very sharp poke in his shoulder blade during the night.  He thought it was his wife, but she was not facing that direction.  The woman in Room 7 said she felt a tug on her hair during the night like somebody had grabbed a hunk and yanked it.  She also heard footsteps on the third floor above her room.  It sounded like two or three children running around up there with hard shoes on a wooden floor.  She knew Jinni was on the third floor so she just assumed it was her.  But Jinni's room is not over 7.  There is just storage in the eves up there and no floor.  She was very surprised to hear that.

11 Oct. '14 - Josephine has been active lately.  On Tuesday, the people in Room 7 reported that it felt like a cat jumped on the bed and settled down between them.  But when they looked, nothing was there.  On Wednesday night, at 2:30am, I felt a cat behind my knees.  It kneaded behind my knees for two minutes and then it quit.  I knew there were none of our cats in the room because I had closed them all out when I went I went to bed.  But I still had to feel around just to make sure.  Nothing was there.  Thank you, Josephine for the calf massage.

16 Oct. '14 - Chuck had cataract surgery on his right eye yesterday.  Now he has only one lens in his glasses and it looks sort of funny.  But, while at the hospital in Iowa City, I saw a bright golden orb zooming around the hospital bedroom.  I also saw it twice in the doctor's office the day before the surgery.  I wonder who came with us.

19 Oct. '14 - This past weekend was a busy one for our guests.  On Friday night, the ladies staying in Room 6 reported that a little boy was playing with their flashlight, answering questions.  There was a tapping sound coming from the mirror on the wall.  And one lady said her hair was played with.  On Saturday night, a group of six ladies rented out all the rooms on the second floor so that they did not bother anybody else.  They stayed up most of the night with video cameras and recorders.  They said the dining room was active but not the parlor.  Room 6 was the most active as far as orbs and tapping sounds.  Two of the ladies smelled a strong cinnamon scent in the dining room, but could not find where it was coming from.  They smelled the candles I had in there and said that was not the scent.  Later, on the bridge, they smelled a strong lilac scent.  But it is fall and there are no lilacs blooming now.  In Room 6, the ladies reported that the doorknob rattled and turned and the door opened, but nobody was there.

24 Oct. '14 - The three ladies who stayed in Room 5 for two nights got some amazing EVPs.  In Room 5, they had brought a hand mirror, brush, and comb set for Julia.  They put the set on Julia's vanity table and asked her if she likes them.  They got a woman's voice saying "I like it".  That night, the lady sleeping in the big bed felt a child jumping at the foot of the bed.  The next day, in Room 8 they had a ball that lights up and they were playing with it in the room.  They got a really loud EVP of a child giggling.  The child must have been really close to the recorder's microphone, it's really loud.  Lately, Chuck and I have been smelling the scent of cinnamon and cherries.  It has happened two days in a row now.  In the bedroom, Chuck smells cinnamon but there is nothing in the room with that scent.  And at the same time, in the dining room, I have smelled what reminds me of cherry Lifesavers.  We will ask Harold about it when Chris Moon comes in November.

2 Nov. '14 - We had our annual Ghost Stories Dinner and lecture this weekend.  We hired HyVee catering to do the meal.  When the driver arrived to bring the food, he left the van running with the keys in the ignition.  He opened the side door to get the trolley cart out and left the doors open.  He went around the back to get the food trays.  But before he opened the back doors, the side doors slammed shut and the doors locked.  It was not windy.  Of course, the keys were still in the car.  We had to call for a tow truck to come open the doors.  I don't know if it was PARA-normal, but it was definitely NOT-normal.  We'll ask Harold about it when Chris comes next week.

A guest gave us this picture taken by Joe Benedict a couple of years ago.  He took it during a GHU class.  Everybody taking the class is in the dining room and parlor area.  Who is coming down the stairs?  No body has ever worn a white dress to a GHU, I would remember that.  I showed the picture to Jinni and said "Look, somebody is wearing a wedding dress."  She said, "No, that's Amanda in her nightgown."  You can see that who ever it is, it fades out at the top.

10 Nov. '14 - Chris Moon and Paulette were here this past weekend for another amazing Paranormal Investigator Academy (PIA instead of GHU).  We found out that the cinnamon scent we have been smelling is Amanda.  And the cherry scent is Anna.  Now we know they are around whenever we smell that scent.  We talked to Harold some more about Chuck's accident.  Chuck wanted to know if Harold could play the scene of the accident in my head so I could see what happened, but Harold said it would be too upsetting to me and he would not do it.  (Thank goodness!)  We asked who went with us to the hospital when Chuck had his eye surgery and President Lincoln said he went with Chuck.  We asked about the delivery van doors locking and Harold admitted to messing with the delivery man because he was not a believer. ....... 7 Dec. '14 -  This past weekend was Christmas In The Villages and was also opening day of deer hunting season.  We had several hunters here, but mostly we get hunter's wives.  The men want to go hunting and the ladies go see the Villages sights.  There was a husband and wife doing just that in Room 6.  Chuck and I are in Room 1 for the winter, right below Room 6.  On Saturday morning, the hunter left early , at 5am, and I heard him leave since we are right next to the front door.  I heard him start his truck and drive away.  On Sunday morning, I heard the same thing at about the same time.  On Monday morning, the couple usually doesn't hunt, but both stay for breakfast and then leave.  (This has been their pattern for the last 12 years.)  But at 5am, just like on the previous days, I heard footsteps in Room 6, the bedroom door opened and closed, then the sound of loud footsteps coming down the stairs and in the foyer.  Then there was a loud bang sound in the foyer, by the front door, like he had dropped a heavy bag on the floor.  I thought it was the hunter leaving, instead of staying for breakfast.  But I did not hear the truck start or drive away.  In fact, the front door never opened.  When I got up to make breakfast, the hunter's truck was still there.  I just thought maybe his friends came and got him.  But when they both came down for breakfast, I asked if he had left earlier and came back.  They said, no, they never left.  In fact, they had just gotten up, just minutes before coming down for breakfast.  Chuck said he did not hear the sounds in the stairway or in the foyer.  Wow, it was loud enough!

31 Dec. '14 - That's it for another year.  It has been really quiet lately.  I guess the spirits are hunkering down for the winter.  If any of you readers have stayed here at the Mason House Inn this year or in previous years and want to tell us about your experience, please email me your story to Stay@MasonHouseInn.com and I will include your story in this Journal.  See you next year!
