Mason House Inn

2015 Happenings

27 January '15 - Chuck and I have been staying in Room 1.  Room 6 is directly above us.  For the last two nights we have been hearing alot of thumping and banging sounds from up there.  There were no guests in the Inn those nights.  It goes on for about a half hour or more and then stops.  We even went outside to see if a shutter was flapping in the wind, but could find no reason for the sounds.

1 February '15 - Chuck and I have started stripping the wallpaper in Room 5.  Mary gave her permission and picked the new wallpaper a couple of years ago.  But that room is always so busy, we have not had a chance to do it.  So we decided to get it done, one wall at a time, and guests will just have to understand and be patient with us.  So we stripped the wall where the door is and under the daisy wallpaper we found some blue flowered paper.  And under the blue flowered paper, we found blue paint.  We also found where the doorway between Rooms 4 and 5 was sealed up.  Chuck is now plastering before we can paper.  When we first started stripping, I heard a man say "Uh oh.  You've done it now."  In this picture you can see where there used to be a doorway between Rooms 4 and 5.  It was sealed up to make two separate rooms.  The blue wallpaper only went as high as the cream colored line on the wall.  There was about a foot of white wall above that before the ceiling.  We plan to work on the walls during the week, and you can still use this room on the weekends, but it won't be finished for a while.  Thank you for understanding.

10 February '15 - Chris Moon and Paulette were here this past weekend for another amazing Paranormal Investigator class.  Saturday night, almost every room had some kind of activity.  The lady in Room 7 said it felt like a cat jumped on the bed and walked around by her feet and then settled down.  She was happy that Josephine (the ghost cat) had visited her.  In Room 6, the lady in the twin bed said she had her back to the door and it felt like somebody sat on the bed by her back.  Thinking it was her friend from the big bed, she turned over, but nobody was there.  In the caboose, the sisters in there asked their grandmother to visit and when they asked for a sign, the closet door opened.  That door is heavy and tight and cannot move without somebody pushing it.  That really surprised them!  Other people used pendulums to talk to the children in the Inn they also heard alot of tapping on the walls in the rooms.  In our room, about 6am, I heard what sounded like snow sliding off the roof.  It was very loud.  But our room is on the first floor and I cannot hear the roof sounds from there.  I also heard alot of footsteps up and down the stairs all night long, but all the guests said it was not them.  During the group Telephone to the Dead (TttD) sessions we asked Mary what she thought of the wall paper stripping project so far.  She said it was a mess and to hurry up and get it over with.

22 February '15 - The S & J Paranormal Investigator team was here this past weekend.  They got a lot of good EVPs including one on the bridge that called one of the members "a jerk", because he had asked a silly question.  Inside the house, one member saw a little girl in a long white nightgown hiding in the hall closet, and a little boy in Room 5.  The K2 meters were used to ask questions of Katie and other spirits with good results.  Over all, they thought it was a good evening.

9 March '15 - There have been two Weekend Retreats since I last wrote, both with interesting activity.  Several people had their arm or leg touched, hair played with, and heard footsteps in their rooms.  Up in Room 6, I heard footsteps going from the big bed area to the bathroom area several times during the night.  But the sisters in there said they did not get up during the night.  They did hear the footsteps a couple of times, but did not investigate.  The couple in Room 7 this last Friday and Saturday, heard voices both nights.  On Friday night, about 1:30am, they heard two men talking.  But he was the only man here, besides Chuck who was asleep at that time.  They looked in the hallway and outside and could not find the source of the sound.  She said it sounded like English, but they could not make out what was being said.  Then, on Sunday morning, as they passed Room 6 on their way to breakfast, they heard people talking inside Room 6.  Knowing that two sisters had spent the night in that room, they thought nothing of it.  They were VERY surprised to find the two sisters already in the dining room, watching the news on TV and having a cup of coffee!  So who was in their room talking?   The couple were so happy to have heard the voices twice in the same weekend!   This morning, I heard the Foyer/Dining Room door open and close, rather loudly.  Thinking it was Jinni getting ready for work, I looked at the clock and it was only 3:47am.  Better NOT be Jinni!  About 10 seconds later, I heard the same door open and close again.  I thought maybe Jinni could not sleep and had snuck down to grab her tablet and go back to her room to play, and she had better not be doing that.  So I got up and looked in the dining room and saw her tablet on the table where she left it when she went to bed.  I checked her room and all was quiet and dark.  So it wasn't Jinni.  There were no guests in the Main House and the front door was not used.  I wonder who it was.

13 March '15 - Okay, more voices.  The lady in Room 7 last night said that about 12:30am, she heard what sounded like a TV was on somewhere.  Several people were talking at once, but she could not make out what they were saying.  She looked in the hallway and did not hear anything.  She looked outside... nothing.  But in her room it sounded like a talk show.  It went for several minutes and then stopped.  At 5:13am, this morning, I was awakened by the sound of several people talking.  It sounded like the TV in the dining room was on and a talk show was on where everybody talks at the same time and you can't understand anybody.  I checked the dining room TV and it was off.  There was nobody outside.  The talking went for about a minute and then it stopped as soon as I stepped into the foyer.

16 March '15 - More voices.  The people in Room 7 heard three loud taps on the window.  They looked at the clock and it was 12:33am.  Then, right after that, they heard what they thought was a radio talk show.  They said it went for about 20 seconds then it stopped.  They went to check their friends in Room 5 to see if they heard it or if they had been on their phones, but the girls in Room 5 did not hear it nor were they on their phones or tablets.  Chuck and Jinni and I were long asleep by then and did not have any TV or radio on.  The lady in the big bed in Room 5 said she heard tapping sounds on the wall (the base board heaters were turned off, so it was not that. )  And then it felt like a cat jumped on her bed.  She did not look at a clock but figures it was about 2 or 3am.

19 March '15 - Voices again!  The couple in Room 5 last night reported that their flashlight lit up about midnight.  It had been sitting on the side table for hours and suddenly turned on.  The K2 meter next to it lit up too.  Then, about 1:30am, they heard what sounded like a man singing.  It was faint and far away, but he was singing a song of some sort.  They knew that there were other people in Room 7, so they thought it was them.  But there were only two women in Room 7.  The two women reported hearing footsteps, like boots, on the third floor above their room.  But, there is only rafters in the eaves above them.  They were surprised to hear that.  And about 3am, they were awakened by voices in the hallway outside their door.  They said it sounded like three or four men and atleast one woman having a discussion about something.  They thought it was the people from Room 5, but the couple said it was not them.

29 March '15 - Last night I heard footsteps up in Room 6, I looked at the clock and it was 1:31am.  The footsteps went from the room door, across the room, and then there was a loud THUMP on the floor.  The steps paused and then went over to the big bed.  Knowing there were guests who were ghost hunting in Room 5, I just assumed it was them investigating Room 6.  My thought was that they had dropped their flashlight and that was the THUMP noise.  In the morning, at breakfast, the ladies said they had slept well and nothing exciting had happened in their room.  I asked if they were in Room 6 at 1:30am and they said it was not them.  So now I wonder what the THUMP sound was.

Here is a message I received from a couple who stayed in Room 5 last year:  My husband and I stayed in that room (Room 5)  and tried to investigate, but all, and I say all, of our electrical devices were drained of battery power: 2 iPhones, 2 digital tape recorders, camcorder, and my camera that never looses battery power was drained to nothing. So we just went to bed.  I like to sleep with my feet hanging out, but the quilt on the bed was tucked in so good all my kicking at the Quilt ( sorry) lead nowhere so I gave up.   Then my feet under the quilt started freezing.  I like my feet cold but this was different.  I never felt this cold before.   It hurt so much, I was almost in tears.  My husband asked what's wrong and  I told him they hurt so bad I couldn't move! Then, and I swear on everything that is important in my life, the quilt lifts up exposing my feet and a wonderful warmth in a circle on the bed starts warming my feet nice and toasty!  It was wonderful! So I thanked whom ever did that and as we where drifting off to sleep, a man yells "HEY!!!", right in bed between both of us! My husband and I were facing each other at this point and our eyes flew open.  I asked him "Was that you?", and I saw the fear in his eyes.  He said "No, but who ever did this, haunt her, she likes this, I don't." And he put the covers over his head!  It was awesome! And more little things happened all night like heat up and down, water off and on in bathroom, and we tried to debunk it all but got nothing. And my husband worked in heating and air and he looked at the thermostat in the room and it was good. So I believe that's Harold the ghost in that room that yelled Hey at us.

2 April '15 -  Here is a picture I found on the Adrenaline Paranormal Research Society's web site.  It was taken during their investigation here in 2010.  The first picture is the original picture of Room 5.  The second picture is a close-up of the mirror reflection.

The mirror reflection captures a face between the chair and the old warming stove, but you can see there is nobody in that position.  The face is bald with a beard, and there was nobody on their team that fits that description.   Very interesting picture!

14 April '15 - Kelly was here this past weekend, holding an Intuitive Retreat.  Many people had personal experiences in their rooms.  One of the ladies in Room 5 heard a loud snoring sound and thought it was the other lady, because they could not see each other from the beds.  But that lady said it was not her and she did not hear any sound.  Later, Harold admitted it was him being funny.  During an investigation in Room 6, the group heard what sounded like a cell phone buzzing.  They each checked their phones and it was not them.  They looked around the room, under the bed, in drawers, etc. and could not find any reason for the sound.  Harold admitted to that too.  He said he knew it was a sound they would recognize.  The ladies in Rooms 2 and 3 invited the spirits to visit them.  (The spirits don't inhabit that building, but might visit if invited.)  The ladies in Room 2 heard what sounded like children running in the back hallway, but when they looked, there was nothing there.  The ladies in Room 3 heard what sounded like someone coming in the door and walking up to the side of the bed and then standing there.  But when she looked, there was nothing there.

17 April '15 - The three ladies who stayed in Room 5 for two nights, had some interesting activity.  They played games and had a recorder running while playing.  The K2 meter was also on.  Every time the K2 lit up, they noted the time on the recorder.  Later, they listened to the recorder and at the time corresponding to the K2 meter, they got a woman's voice saying "I don't know about that."  And "Keep going!".  During the nights their motion detector kept sounding, which meant somebody was moving around in the room even though they were all in bed and not moving around the room.  One time, one lady was in the bathroom and the door knob jiggled and tried to open, but she had the hook on.  Good thing!  She thought it was one of the other ladies, but they were both outside at the time and nobody else was in the house.  (Chuck, Jinni, and I were out running errands at the time and were not home either.)  Later, they noticed that Room 7's door was closed when they had left all the doors open.  But the big surprise they got was that they were sitting on the twin beds, eating the cookies from the cookie jar (which was sitting on the little table), and talking.  One lady felt something move next to her on the bed and looked down.  There on the bed was the cookie jar!  Somehow it had moved from the table to the bed without them seeing it move!  Wow!

3 May '15 - It has been pretty quiet here lately.  But the people in Rooms 5 and 6 last night had some interesting activity to report.  The ladies in Room 6 said they had some plastic forks on the dresser, left over from their snack.  At about 5am, one of the forks jumped off the dresser onto the floor.  There was really no reason for it.  They tried to recreate it and could not do it.  Then, after breakfast, they were in the bedroom and one of the ladies felt something hit her leg and she looked down and saw her cell phone on the floor by her foot.  The cell phone had been on the dresser.  Again they tried to find a reason for it and could not recreate it.  The people in Room 5 last night had turned on a tablet camera on the dresser and left the room.  After several minutes of nothing, an orb comes out of the wall and zooms right at the tablet.  Then the tablet closes.  The tablet was propped up on it's "kickstand" and would have to be forced against it's 45 degree angle.  But it was not just pushed over, it was closed.

9 May '15 - Yesterday, I went to write something in my appointment calendar and I could not find the pencil that I always keep with the calendar.  I looked all over the Dining Room table and on the floor, and I even picked up the book and shook it to see if the pencil was stuck between the pages somewhere.  I could not find the pencil anywhere.  I went into the kitchen to get another pencil, and when I got back to the Dining Room, there was the pencil.... laying on top of the calendar book!  Both Chuck and Jinni knew anything about it and had not been in the Dining Room and there were no guests here yet.  I said "Thank you!"  It's funny that they knew what I was looking for and found it for me.   This morning, about 4:30am, I heard what sounded like several men having a conversation.  It was faint and far away, and I thought maybe somebody was up watching TV in the Dining Room.  But when I looked in there, it was dark and quiet.  Then, about 7am, I was about to enter into the Dining Room to fix breakfast, and I heard what sounded like a man and a woman having a conversation in there.  Again, my first thought was that the TV was on, but when I entered the room, it was dark and quiet.  I asked the guests if they had been up and talking, but everybody said it was not them.  The guests in Room 5 last night said they had been looking in the other rooms, and when they got to Room 6, they could not open the door and assumed it was locked.  They moved on down the hallway to Room 7, and when they got about halfway there, the door to Room 6 rattled and the door opened.  Thinking they had disturbed somebody, they went back to see, and there was nobody in the room.  That really surprised them!

25 May '15 - This morning, the lady staying in Room 8 told us that the frogs were really loud when she went to bed and she could not hear anything except them chirping.  Yes, spring frogs are loud.  But then they all stopped, suddenly it was very quiet.  All she could hear was some loud breathing in her ear.  Then she realized it was not coming from her husband, because he was on the other side!  She said we have loud frogs and loud breathing ghosts!   This morning, I was in the parlor when a sign outside the window blew over from the wind.  Just then, a toy in the toy box said "Bye Bye".  This toy says "Bye Bye" if nobody has been playing with it for about 30 seconds.  But nobody had been playing with it!  That was so funny!  Don't know if it was Para-normal, but it was definitely Not-normal!

30 May '15 - The ladies who stayed in Room 6 last night reported hearing alot of thumping and scraping sounds coming from the third floor above them.  Knowing it was not Jinni who is over the back part of the house, they were thrilled to hear Mary up there.  They also heard a cat meow, just once, from inside the room.  They asked for some one in their group to get touched, and one lady felt a strong touch on her thigh.  That surprised her, because she was not actually expecting it to happen!  Be careful what you ask for!

4 July '15 - It has been pretty quiet here lately.  But my daughter and her family came for the weekend.  We were all sitting in the dining room, when her 3 year old son went into the foyer and then headed up the stairs to Room 6.  Then I heard a woman say "Hello", like she was greeting the child.  I thought it came from the foyer and asked Chuck (who could see into the foyer) if someone was out there.  But he said nobody was there.  A few seconds later, the 8 month old son looked into the foyer area and waved and smiled like he was waving hello at somebody.  Again we all looked and we did not see anybody.  But he sure did.

18 July '15 - We went on a little vacation this week and some friends came and stayed here and finished wallpapering Room 5 for us.  We thank the Herringtons, Stendels, and Dillons for their hard work.  It looks great!

30 July '15 - It's been pretty quiet around here lately.  Most of our guests were not ghost hunting or interested in discussing what happened in their room.  If anything did happen, they did not say.  But this morning, I heard three knocks on our bedroom door.  I looked at the clock and it was 2:15am.  We did not have any guests and it was not Jinni's knock, so I did not answer and went back to sleep.  A short while later, there were three knocks again.  I looked at the clock and just then the alarm rang...6:30am.  What timing!  When I went into the dining room, I heard water splashing somewhere.  I looked all around for the broken pipe and found nothing.  Then I realized it was coming from the basement, so I looked down there.  Sure enough, the sump pump pipe was disconnected and the sump pump was spewing water onto the floor of the basement.  I wonder if it started about 2:15?  Chuck and I were able to fix it and things went back to normal.

1 Aug. '15 - Last night, about 11pm, Chuck and I had just turned off the TV and had settled down to sleep, when I heard a cat playing with a tinkle ball in our bedroom.  I knew Fluffy and Butterscotch were outside, so I assumed it was Misty.  I did not look because she always jumps up on the bed and then I could grab her and remove her from the room.  But she never jumped on the bed, and after the initial thumping and tinkling, which went on for only about a minute, there were no more sounds.  In the morning, I found the tinkle ball in the corner where it has been for the past year, and Misty was not in the bedroom, but in the Keeping Room. (Which is what we call our family room, because that's where you keep the family.)  The only cat who ever played with that tinkle ball was Tiger, and he disappeared about a year ago.  He was Jinni's cat and he was about 11 years old.  He would chase the tinkle ball and thump his feet on the floor and he would play with it in sprints.... really hard... for a very short time, and then he would leave it and chase it again later.  The last time he played with it was the day he disappeared, and he left it in the corner of my bedroom, where it has been ever since.  One day last summer, he was following Chuck around the yard and then he did not come in that night.  We have not seen him since.  It 's nice that he came back to play with his tinkle ball again.

3 Aug. '15 - Chris Moon and his mother, Paulette, were here this weekend for another fantastic Paranormal Investigator class.  This time they did their "Vegas" show and did public gallery readings.  We had not seen this show before and it was very interesting.  During the night, the lady in Room 1 reported that she heard people up in Room 6, even though there had not been anybody in that room.  She was surprised to find that out!  She also heard people talking in the foyer about 2am, but everybody had gone to bed by 11pm.  The couple in Room 8 got a picture of the bed that had a dark shadow on it like somebody was sitting there.  Later, during the night, the husband felt somebody sit on the side of the bed and told his wife he had felt it.  Just then, he jumped up and yelled "It touched my butt!"  He was very surprised to have had his tushy patted.  Later we asked on the Telephone to the Dead who it had been and Harold admitted to it.  He said "I got you!".   The people in Room 7 said they did not experience anything, but their son in the twin bed did.  He kept sitting up and talking to somebody and then would lay down again.  And then sit up and talk and then lay down again.  He did this several times, but he did not remember doing it.

10 Aug. '15 - My daughter and two of her children were here for the weekend and they stayed in Room 8.  She said that at about 3:15am she was awakened by some loud footsteps in her room that sounded like boots on a hard wood floor.  Then the bed shook twice.  That's all there was but it was enough to wake her up!

24 Aug. '15 -  Friday night, about 11:30pm, I was awakened by a very light cat jumping on the bed and settling down on my hip. (I was sleeping on my side.) Thinking it was Butterscotch, who likes to do that, I thought nothing of it.  Then the cat walked up to my shoulder, and then it was gone.  In the morning, I found Butterscotch outside, he had not been in the house during the night.  Must have been Josephine!   The sisters who stayed in Room 4 on Friday night reported that about 3:30am, Saturday morning, the lady in the twin size bed felt somebody sit on the foot of the bed.  At first, she thought it was her sister, but when she looked she could see her sister in the big bed was fast asleep.  Then, at 5:30am, the sister in the big bed felt something hit the underside of the bed, right underneath her.  She said it felt like somebody kicked the bottom of the mattress.  Her sister was asleep in the twin bed and nothing was under the bed.  They were happy to have something happen that was not too scary.  Then, on Saturday night, a group of college age girls stayed in Rooms 4 and 5.  One of the girls in Room 4 reported that a man said her name right in her ear while she was alone in the twin bed.  And it felt like somebody touched her hair.  Earlier in the evening, they were all together in Room 5 and there was a thump near them.  They thought maybe somebody dropped her cell phone on the floor, but everybody's phone was accounted for.  Then it thumped again.  That startled them into a short scream session because by then they knew there was no obvious reason for the sound!

14 Sept. '15 - Kelly was here with another great Intuitive Retreat and Ghost Hunt.  Several people were touched.  And during a "flashlight session" in the parlor, they asked if the spirits could move the flashlights, and two of the flashlights rolled off the table!

20 Sept. '15 - Something strange...the calendars in the guest rooms keep being removed from the walls.  We have been finding them in drawers, under the beds, behind the mirrors, and under the pillows in the closet in Room 8.  I don't know if the guests are doing this or what.  They are even missing in rooms that have not had any guest in them!

22 Sept. '15 - Two ladies have been staying in Rooms 7 and 8 for the past four nights.  The lady in Room 8 , we'll call her K, wanted something to happen and the lady in Room 7 , we'll call her P, did not particularly want something.  K stayed up late ghost hunting on the second floor while P went to bed.  On Sunday morning, about 1:30am, K was filming in the hallway when she saw, with her own eyes, an orb of light came out of the wall of what would be Room 8s bathroom, and cross the hallway at the ceiling, and enter the wall of Room 7.  She did not get it on video because she was filming the floor at the time, not the ceiling.  But she was surprised that she could see it with her eyes and not with the camera!  On Monday morning, P decided to sleep in and skip breakfast.  K and I were in the dining room.  About 9:20am, P came in the room and asked if K had knocked on her door about 9:15.  No, K had been in the dining room with me since about 9am.  P said that she heard three distinct knocks on her door at 9:15.  Thinking it was K, she said to come in, but nobody came in.  She went and looked and nobody was there.  She went back to bed and a few minutes later, there were two distinct knocks on the door.  Again she said to come in, but nobody did and she got up to look and nobody was there.  That's when she came down to find K and ask if it was her.  None of the other guests were on the second floor, and they were all in the dining room with us.  I guess somebody did not want her to miss breakfast!

3 Oct. '15 - The first thing that Jinni said to me this morning was that there was a 'ghost cat' in her room last night.  She said she heard something under her bed, so she looked, and it was Tiger!  She was so excited to see him she could hardly wait to tell me!  I'm glad he finally showed himself to her!

9 Oct. '15 -  The people who stayed in Room 4 last night said they heard what sounded like a cat scratching on the bedroom door like it was wanting to come in.  Knowing we have cats, they opened the door but there was no cat there.  I know for a fact that all our cats were closed in the Keeping Room that night.  Tiger and Patches and Tommy, our cats who have passed away but have been sighted since, did not have front claws so they could not have made scratching sounds.  Josephine has been known to kneed people until her claws pricked, so maybe it was Josephine.  She usually does not scratch the door, though, she usually just goes on in and jumps on the bed.  Hmm.

14 Oct. '15 - Early this morning, 5:30am, I heard footsteps in our bedroom, over by the bathroom.  At first I assumed it was Chuck, but then I realized he was asleep beside me.  The footsteps creaked the boards over there a second time,  then they creaked over to the door and went out the door.  I guess he was done with the bathroom, whoever it was.

25 Oct. '15 - Kelly was here this weekend with another of her fantastic Intuitive Retreat weekends.  Lots of activity!!  In Room 8, the ladies heard somebody whistling at 4:30am.  It sounded like Chuck's whistle when he whistles for the cats to come in, but it sure wasn't Chuck at 4:30am!  In Room 7, the lady heard a voice in her ear, very close, but could not make out what it was saying.  Then there was a loud "Clap" sound at the foot of the bed.  That startled them!  In Room 7, the blankets got tugged on.  In Room 4, one lady got touched and they also heard the whistle sound. The bathroom door in Room 5 kept swinging open and shut.  There was no window open or vents to explain it.  In Room 6, the door kept locking the ladies in or out and they saw moving shadows in the room that could not be explained.  In our room, Josephine jumped on our bed next to me and then walked over me and settled down by my knees.  At first I thought it was Butterscotch, but then realized it was way too light to be Butterscotch.  (Anyway, I had tossed him from the room before I turned off the lights.)  Wow!  What an active weekend!

Here is Tammy's version of what happened to her this weekend:

Hi Joy! I just wanted to say thank you again for the wonderful hospitality over the weekend. I stayed in room 4.  The feeling of the Inn upon walking in was amazing. It was a very warm, loving and welcoming feeling. When I walked up to my room to put my things in their I did most certainly feel a change in the energy. I felt a presence at the top of the stairs. Then when I walked in to room 4 there was a heaviness I felt to the left of me. It was uncomfortable but not scary either. Not really knowing any of the history I didn't know what I was getting myself into. (I later learned of the vortex in that area which makes complete since if the uneasiness).  That first night, Friday Oct. 23rd, I was awoke by girl voices. I don't know how many but there was, more than 1. I didn't open my eyes or acknowledge the noise. I just started drifting back to sleep and that's when I felt someone pushing on my side (how a child would push/shake to wake you up). I then snapped my eyes open but no one was there. I will also add I had kept the lamp on when I first went to sleep hoping that would help in any spirits to NOT bother me. It didn't work 😊.  Nothing happened on the night of the 24th but I took note from Chuck, just let them know you don't want to be bothered. Well, I did exactly that and nothing happened. However, I kept being woke up by pressure in my head and a dizziness feeling kept  happening. I attributed that to the vortex opening and closing.  On the morning of the 25th I was packing my things. The door was shut and I heard a whistle, Chuck's whistle, coming from outside my door. It was faint but yet distinct and clear. I opened my door to see if 'Chuck' was going to whistle again. I took note of the time and asked at breakfast if he was calling the cats and he said he was not.    I went to the Mason House mainly to overcome my fear of seeing a spirit in full apparition and also overcome my fear of being touched by one. I never did see anything and I believe partly that is my own fault. Even though I so badly wanted to see one I was still afraid to see one. I feel the spirits respected my fear and did not show themselves. I was touched that first night which I am ok with but I wish it wouldn't have happened in my sleep. It was rather startling to say the least and I slept very lightly the rest of the night.   I would love to come and visit both you and Chuck from time to time and speak with you. I feel I could learn a lot. The feeling I got upon leaving the inn was sadness. I did not want to leave the spirits presence, for some odd reason I can't explain, they felt like family. I felt I was leaving my home. It's the weirdest thing because anytime I go somewhere I can't wait to get home and get back to normalcy and see my husband and kids. Yes, I was happy to be home, but I certainly can't wait to get back.    Thank you so much for an amazing weekend!!  Much love to you both!   Tammy

2 Nov. '15 - This morning I heard "Hey Ma!", very loudly and right next to my ear.  My first thought was that it was Jinni because that's what she says when I'm napping and she wants my attention.  I answered "Huh?" and Chuck jumped next to me.  I looked and there was no Jinni.  I even sat up in bed to look around the room to find her, no Jinni.  I looked at the clock and it was exactly 4:00am.  Great, now they are mimicking Jinni.  Ha Ha, you got me!

10 Nov. '15 - Chris Moon and Paulette were here this past weekend with another of their fabulous Paranormal Investigator Academy (formally GHU) classes.  Attendance was phenomenal! We were packed!  Dan Terry brought us book that he wrote called "River Shadows".  We are one of the chapters.  It's a great book!  Thank you, Dan!  Activity during the weekend included people being touched and a feeling of a child sitting on two ladies laps.  Covers were pulled on, sounds of children giggling, flashlights and divining rods being answered.  The K2 meter was very busy!  Several people got nice orb pictures and EVPs.  Chris brought his new Cathedral Box and we used it as well as his traditional Telephone To The Dead device.  The Cathedral Box, while being clearer, was slower in responding and very "echo" sounding.  Took some getting used to.  Harold said it was harder to use and he preferred the old box.  Amanda said she liked the new box and was even trying to teach some spirits how to use it correctly.  We found out that a child named David was responsible for mimicking Jinni's voice in our bed room on 2 Nov.  He was just playing with me, not that he had any message or anything.  Curtis admitted to pulling on covers in Room 7 and also to mimicking Chuck's whistle.  We asked Harold if he knew anything about the calendars that kept being removed from the walls and he admitted to doing it.  He said he does not like snakes.  We realized that the September calendar picture was a large river snake!  I told him it was now an owl, so stop removing the calendars!  Chuck and I have now moved into Room 1 for the winter.  Last night I heard alot of footsteps in Room 6 about 10pm, but then it was quiet the rest of the night.

16 Nov. '15 - The ladies who stayed in Rooms 6 and 7 this weekend were happy to have some activity.  About 9pm, they were all in Room 7 talking when the doorknob jiggled like somebody was trying to come in.  They could hear somebody in the hallway too.  But they were all in the room and all the rest of the people staying that night were all downstairs with me, so I know nobody else was upstairs.  They opened the door to see who it was, but nobody was there. They said nothing else happened during the night, but they were happy to have even that much.  Chuck and I (in Room 1) continue to hear footsteps up in Room 6 every night.  On Friday night, I heard a very loud "Boomp" in the foyer hallway like something heavy had hit the floor, but we could not find any reason for the noise.

1 Dec. '15 - Our daughters and their families were here over Thanksgiving weekend.  Cindi and her four year old went to take a nap in their room one afternoon.  They had left the door open a little.  The little one asked Cindi to close the door because "they are being too noisy".  Cindi listened and did not hear anything and asked who was being noisy.  The little one answered "Nana and Papa, they are in the hallway talking and I can't sleep with them being so noisy."  Cindi got up and looked, nobody was in the hallway and it was quiet.  She looked outside but there was nobody out there either.  Later she asked if we had been near their room, but we had all stayed in the dining room.  That night, Kristin had put her two little ones to bed in Room 6, in the twin beds by the door, and then she and her husband had come downstairs to watch TV.  Later, her three year old son told her that after they left, a man and a woman had come into the room and looked at him and left.  He said the man had "hair on his face like Daddy."  (His daddy has a mustache and goatee.)  I assumed it was Mary and Frank, as they have visited people in Room 6 before and Frank had facial hair.  I showed him pictures of Mary and Frank Clark, but he said he did not recognize any of them as the people he saw. But maybe they had not shown themselves as they looked in the pictures.

15 Dec. '15 - D and her group are here again from Minnesota.  Last night was pretty active. They got an EVP of a lady saying "Ohhh", when D was explaining to the other people about the doctor's equipment in Room 5.  I guess that lady was pretty interested.  About midnight, I heard tapping sounds on our ceiling.  It was right above my head.  I sounded like Morse code and it was coming from the area in Room 6 that would be beside the twin bed.  At first I thought it was the couple in that room walking around, but I could here the floorboards squeaking also, and this tapping was different.  Then, one of the motion detectors rang.  Chuck and I in Room 1, heard the beeping and then there were footsteps running down the stairs and out the front door.  A few minutes later, the footsteps came back in the front door but they did not seem to be too excited about anything.  About 1:30am, there was a loud THUMP on the floor of Room 6, and about 15 minutes later, there was another loud THUMP.  D's mother, B, slept in the big bed in Room 5 and she said it felt like somebody snuggled up against her back.  This morning, I was in the kitchen making breakfast and jinni was in the dining room eating her breakfast, and I heard a woman say to her "Oh, Good Morning."  Thinking it was D, who usually gets up early for coffee, I looked into the dining room, but there was only Jinni in there.  I asked her who had said "Good Morning", and she said it was just Amanda.  During breakfast I asked about the motion detector and they said the one in Room 5 had beeped, but they never did go outside after that.  Well, somebody did!  I asked the people in Room 6 about the thumping, and he said he had a recorder and a book on the dresser and they went flying across the room and hit the wall! First the recorder, then the book.  He was pretty shaken by that.   I asked about somebody talking to Jinni in the dining room, but they all said they had not even come downstairs until breakfast time.  I guess it was Amanda.

20 Dec. '15 - Last night, there was a family group here, staying in Rooms 5, 6, and 7.  Some of the group was ghost hunting and two men were skeptics and not really interested.  They slept on the twin beds in 6 and 7.  The group was up walking around, taking videos with their cell cameras and getting some very interesting orb movements.  Chuck and I are in Room 1 for the winter months, and we could hear them moving around up there.  Then at midnight it got very quiet and I assumed everybody went to bed.  I started to fall asleep but was awakened by the sound of the Dining room / Foyer door opening and closing.  Then there were footsteps that went past Room 1's door and up the stairs and into Room 6.  The loose floorboard next to the twin bed creaked and then all was silent.    I looked at my clock and it was 12:35am.  I assumed the man in the twin bed had been the one up and had now gotten into bed, since the footsteps did not continue over to the big bed.  In the morning, the group showed around all the really good videos they had gotten in each room.  They said they pooped out by midnight and went to bed.  I asked who had been up at 12:35am and they all said they had been in bed asleep by then.  I told them about the footsteps that went up the stairs and into Room 6 and stopped by the twin bed.  The man who had been in that bed turned white as a sheet!  He said he did not notice anything but was asleep at that time.  The people in Room 5 mentioned that they heard what sounded like something heavy being shoved across the floor up on the third floor.  Then there was a loud bump sound and the noises stopped.  That was about 3am.  (The room directly above Room 5 is my sewing room and there is nobody up there during the nights.)

31 Dec. '15 - That's the end of another year here at the Mason House Inn.  It's been pretty quiet lately. If you stayed here in 2015, or previous years, and something happened to you that is not chronicled here, please send us an email and let us know about it.  See you next year!
